We talk about female sexuality and erectile dysfunction with licensed clinical psychologist and clinical sexologist, Dr. Alex Chinks. Alex has a private practice in Boston, MA. She explains the difference between sexual and erectile dysfunction for men and explains how women can suffer from sexual dysfunction as well. We also talk about how sex is related to our everyday performance and if having sex before a big race is good thing or a bad one!

Episode 89: Female Sexuality and Erectile Dysfunction with Dr. Alex Chinks
This podcast aroused some curiosity within me because as a teenager I think it is very important to be knowledgeable in the topic of sex in order to stay safe and have a good time. I never considered the relationship between being a healthy person and maintaining a healthy sex life, but through this podcast I learned that erectile dysfunction and other problems that may occur during intercourse can often be signs of greater health problems such as heart disease or depression. I also learned that there is a sizeable correspondence between overall health and sexual activity, with special emphasis on mental health. I thought it was very interesting to learn that depression and other mental health problems could lead to performance issues in the bedroom. One point that was brought up during the podcast was whether or not athletes should engage in sexual activity the night before a big event, and I feel it is important to do so to both relieve stress and be well rested. Dr. Chinks also brought up the very interesting point that sex can be a very healthy activity. She specified that the more passive positions were not as healthy as others, but if done the right way sex could be used as a great way to stay healthy. One main question I was left with was how does food impact a person’s sex life and is it possible to eat foods that better improve one’s sexual performance. This podcast was very entertaining to listen to and very professionally done, and I can’t wait to listen to more and improve my lifestyle!
Food has a great impact on our performance in everything we do in life. If you fuel yourself with poor quality foods (processed foods), you can usually expect poor performance. If you fuel yourself with great quality foods (real foods), you can usually expect great performance (or at least a better opportunity at it).
Reflecting on the last year, I can attribute all my recent success entirely to your advice and I cannot thank you enough! Food really can improve your performance in ways I didn’t even imagine!
