What if I told you that you can be stronger?
What if I told you that you can be faster?
What if I told you that you can be more alert?
What if I told you that you can have more energy?
What if I told you that you can avoid erectile dysfunction (get your attention guys)?
What if I told you that you can live a healthier life?
What if I told you that you could live a longer, better quality of life?
What if I told you that things like heart disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases no longer need to exist?
What if I told you that the solution to all these questions is so simple it’s almost silly that not everyone is already doing it?
Would you believe me?
Just over ten years ago, I lost a good friend to heart disease. He was an awesome guy with a wife and two great kids. He went to play floor hockey one evening and collapsed right near the goal crease. He was in good physical shape and appeared to eat well. And just like that, he was gone.
A few days ago, another man in my community was playing pickup basketball with the guys. He collapsed on the court and died of a heart attack.
These are just two examples that are close to home for me, but there are thousands and thousands that this happens to everyday. Heart disease doesn’t need to exist and not only can we prevent it, but it can be reversed in most cases. The solution is so simple I can’t wrap my head around the fact that everyone isn’t already making the shift to a plant-based lifestyle.
I mean I do understand that people are resistant to change, that people like to do things that are easy…I get all that. But when I think back to the day I was told that I’d be dead before I turn 40 and my kids would grow up without a father, it made no sense to me not to make a change. Is that the problem? Do people really think it can’t happen to them or they need to wait for something tragic to happen to themselves or someone they love before they are willing to change their lifestyle and thrive?
I mean what do you have to lose by changing to a plant-based lifestyle?
It’s becoming more mainstream these days. Celebrities such as Beyoncé are doing it, professional athletes like Aaron Rodgers and Venus Williams are doing it, even the most popular bodybuilder ever, Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing it. Before you know it maybe it’ll peak your interest too (if you’re not already there)?
I haven’t even touched on the environmental issues and compassion towards animals (and I won’t here).
I think it’s time you stopped to think for a moment about how you want to live out the rest of your life. Whether it’s another day or another 50+ years, it doesn’t matter. This is a choice you have some control over. Why keep beating yourself down into the shadows when you could start to thrive and shine?
Let me know what you think about this in the comments below and if you want help making the shift to a plant-based lifestyle, you know where to find me…thrive and shine!
